AdMob: from test ads to real ads

Every template ships with Google’s sample IDs so ads work while you test. Before release you swap in the IDs from your own AdMob account, publish an app-ads.txt file and tick a few switches. Paste your IDs below and this page tells you exactly what to change.

    1Which template are you using?

    2Paste your AdMob IDs

In AdMob, add the app (choose “not published yet” if it isn’t on Google Play), then create one ad unit per format the game uses. IDs never leave your browser; they are checked right here.

    Android

AdMob → Apps → App settings. Contains a ~ (tilde).

Ad units → Banner. Contains a / (slash).

    Ad units → Interstitial.

    Ad units → Rewarded.

Ad units → App open. Leave empty if you turn app open ads off.

    3Make these edits in Unity

Enter a valid App ID and at least one ad unit ID above, with no red marks. Your exact edits appear here.

    4app-ads.txt

AdMob reads app-ads.txt from the root of the website you enter as “Website” on your Google Play store listing: https://yourdomain.com/app-ads.txt. Only the domain counts, not the page; www. and m. are ignored, and AdMob looks at most one subdomain up.

A free page on a shared host (for example a site under someone else’s domain) can’t hold a root file, so you need a domain of your own. It can take up to 24 hours for AdMob to see the file.

    Generate the file

AdMob → Settings → Account information, or paste any of your ad IDs.

    Check it
